Shri Ajay Singh was born on 23rd September, 1955 at Allahabad. He is younger son of Late Shri Arjun Singh, who has served Madhya Pradesh in many positions including as Chief Minister and served the country as Governor of Punjab, vice President of All India Congress Committee and as Cabinet Minister in the Central Government.

Shri Ajay Singh did his schooling from Campion School, Bhopal and M.A. in Economics from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and was a Gold Medalist. Apart from academics he has a number of achievements to his credit, In 1971 he was selected as the best NCC Cadet. In the interschool Debate Competition in 1972 he won the best Debater’s trophy. He was the Captain of Campion School during 1971-72.

His areas of Interest are many. Some of them are Sports, Traveling, Social Activities and Agriculture.

  • Shri Ajay Singh is a dynamic and a charismatic leader. He was elected as M.L.A in the by-election in 1985 & 1991 from Churhat (Sidhi). He was elected as M.L.A for third time in 1998 and became Cabinet Minister holding the Departments of Panchayat &  Rural Development, Tourism and Culture in Government of Madhya Pradesh.
  • He was elected as M.L.A. for the fourth time in 2003 and for the fifth time in 2008 for the Madhaya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
  • He was  Leader of the Opposition in Madhaya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha from April, 2011 to November, 2013.
  • In 2013 he again elected for the sixth time as member of  present Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
  • On 23rd February, 2017 he again appointed as Leader of the Opposition for the second time.
